Where's ProLink?

One of our newest sponsors of 2012 is ProLink...and do they get around!

They also just so happen to host a Where's ProLink contest via Facebook where you can win a ProGold prize pack full of their best products.

My personal favorite Prolink product are the ProTowels (think 8" x 12" baby wipes with degreaser on steroids.) They work great for scrubbing your chain on the textured side then flipping it over and wiping it clean with the smooth side. And when your done just drop it in the trash and grab a new one the next time instead of that nasty old dirty towel you keep stuffing under your work bench. Oh, and they also work great for just wiping down other parts as well.

The Where's ProLink contest rules are pretty simple to follow and you could end up wining any one of a multitude of great products. Maybe even my favorite, so go to their website ProGold Biking or find them on Facebook @ProGold Bikes and hit "like" for more information.

Now where's ProLink?!

Thursday

Hey, it's the offseason but we're still here...

Have you had time yet to prep those tubulars for the off season? Don't just pile them away in the basement. A little prep now goes a long way for when you really need them again come September.

We also can't believe that Pre-registration opened this past week for the first official Michigan 'Cross race of the season, The Ithica GP presented by Token. Didn't the season just end last week?

And in case you haven't heard. Wolverine Racing is now on Facebook! So please go to Facebook, hit the "like" button and stay up to date on all the happenings of the Wolverine Racing 'cross & road team all in one place.

...Oh, we'll still be here as well but with Facebook you'll be the first to know!

Train hard, ride fast...

Wednesday

The Mullis family, Danielle & Luke, made the trip to frozen Madison, WI for their first USCF Cyclocross National Championship. With bragging rights on the line they would both go on to finish 14th in their respective age group. So it looks like they'll have to wait and settle this next season.

Sunday

Well that's a wrap on the season and it was a fitting end as it became a battle of attrition in epic conditions worthy of crowing a UCI Masters World Cyclocross Champion in Louisville, Kentucky!

What was deep soupy mud Thursday morning during qualifiers was transformed by a vicious winter storm that blew into town Thursday night and froze both racers and the course solid. Frozen ruts covered in mud & temps in the upper 20's on Saturdays World Championship forced riders to look for slots to ride. One minute you were going straight, the next you'd hear plastic stakes snapping in the crisp air, pieces shattered like glass as course tape blew into the wind. All the sand that course workers threw at the course wasn't enough.

Congratulations have to go out to Jeff Weinert and Pat Russell who represented Wolverine Racing with strength and honor. Two warriors who endured a long season of training and racing for the ultimate shot at the World Championship rainbow jersey.
Both riders need to be commended for demonstrating the highest level of commitment to a season long goal which required tuning ones mind and body to it's highest level, racing in all types of weather conditions and for being on the road away from their families. They trained and raced through the holidays and battled through injuries to do what they love to do, race Cyclo Cross!

Win or lose this is type of sacrifice and commitment that embodies the Wolverine spirit of racing and helps mold champions.

See ya next season...

Thursday

Greetings cyclocross fans from Louisville, Kenmucky. Where the weather seems to change by the minute. One second it was 40' and raining, the next its snowing sideways and 30'. Our trip started a bit rough as parking was easy, leaving was another story as we had to get towed out by 2 tractors...

Thursday = Day 1's qualifying heats which are in the books. Pat Russell(18th) and I (10th) will be starting our World Championships from rows 3 & 4. The course has tons of room for passing so even a 3rd row spot is good. If you have the power, then you'll get to the front in no time.
Matt Baroli started his heat race as well today but due to a foot injury DNF'd. If he heals up over the next day he'll line up on Saturday for a shot at a World title as well.

As for the course there is one word to describe it, mud. Deep, thick, greasy are just a few words to describe it. The other 4 letter words I can't write here. Lap times were near 12minutes per, 5-6 minutes of that were runing. Other then mud there is deep sand and lot's of standing water. Mother nature is surely laughing at us this weekend & smiling.

That's it for now but I'll leave you with the motto for the weekends trip so far which is, "That aint gonna stop no hony bager, aka WOlVERINE !" If you haven't heard of the honey bager yet check out youTube. Because a honey bager attacks his rivals incessantly and never gives up.

Stay tuned for our course report video tomorrow.

This was just after the start of my & Patricks heat race after the first sand section. Deep grass & mud made this sector on of the toughest.

A great shot of Pat runing up the stone ledges. Notice the huge amounts of standing water. We're told that days before the event they were pumping the water out of the venue.

During the USGP this was a ride up. I guess they figured they'd force a run-up as if we would have even been able to ride up it let alone run. At the start it was a good idea to make sure those shoes were on tight.

We'll post up more pictures as we get them...
